HPU mechanical press control: innovation and efficiency in action

Advanced technology and modular design to optimize performance and maintenance

The Hydraulic Power Unit (HPU) developed by Hydroservice represents a prime example of advanced engineering and integrated solutions, designed to ensure high performance and reliability in industrial production lines.
The project features cutting-edge technologies and a modular configuration that facilitates maintenance and accessibility.

Technical and Functional Features

The system is designed around an Automated Transfer Line that seamlessly integrates the motor-pump-accumulator unit and the brake-clutch control, ensuring precision and speed in operations. The available utilities enable complete management of the manifold blocks for brake and clutch control (Bosch-Rexroth) and for extractor commands, with dedicated ports both on the press and on a dedicated bench.
Additionally, the inclusion of specific manifold blocks for press auxiliaries and extractions, both lower and upper, provides a modular and flexible solution capable of meeting various operational requirements.

The HPU includes a 1000 dm³ tank with welded side structures serving as supports for the junction boxes. The reservoir is appropriately divided into two sections for clean and contaminated oil and is equipped with a full-capacity oil recovery tray. Level and pressure monitoring is managed through IFM sensors and transducers (LT3023 and PV7001) connected via I/O Link, offering precise real-time diagnostics.

To ensure optimal fluid temperature control, the system features a brazed plate water-oil heat exchanger with a 24 VDC solenoid valve for water inlet regulation. The circuit is completed with return and supply filters, both equipped with electric/visual clogging indicators, ensuring continuous fluid purification and preserving the performance and longevity of the HPU.

Construction and Integrated Components

The project includes the use of galvanized hydraulic piping and Parker EO2 fittings. The motor-pump unit, mounted externally to the reservoir, enhances accessibility for maintenance. For oil preheating management, two 1000W heating elements have been incorporated. The lower and upper extraction control groups are remotely installed from the HPU on a dedicated frame for accumulators and valve blocks.

Conclusion

The combination of technical solutions and construction details highlights Hydroservice’s innovative and customized approach, blending reliability, safety, and sustainability.

This hydraulic power unit is a concrete demonstration of the company’s capability in designing and manufacturing complex systems that meet the most demanding industrial requirements.
